How to measure your table

  1. Measure the flat top only. Go edge to edge across the usable surface. Leave out rounded lips, raised rims and anything that hangs below.
  2. Square or rectangle: measure the width and the length.
  3. Round: measure straight across through the center — the widest point.
  4. Oval: measure the narrowest width and the longest length, both through the center.
  5. Using a leaf or an insert? Measure with it in place, the way you’ll play.

Why round tables need more room

A square mat is widest from corner to corner. On a round table, the middle of each side can sit comfortably while the corners still hang over the edge.

For the whole mat to rest on a round table, the table must be at least as wide as the mat’s diagonal: 45.8 in (116.4 cm). Square and rectangular tables only need to match the side: 32.4 × 32.4 in.

Room for players

Whether the mat fits and whether players have enough elbow room are two different questions. The tool shows the border of table left around the mat, so you can judge space for racks, drinks and score cards.

We can’t tell from table size alone whether particular racks or accessories will fit — measure those separately.
